Center Chains Disc golf

The course in Hope Davy Park is old but lovely, with beatiful views and a mix of forest and field it is worth the trip. On Saturday I played two rounds as part of the Sapbucket Disc Golf Tournament and played up a division in Am1. Finished 10th out of 28 people in my group. Enjoyed it alot. Had to drive home after the tournament and really wished the trip could be longer.

What to do in Waterbury?

I spent the afternoon going for a really short walk, while doing a geocache. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game done with a hand held GPS unit and the great websitegeocaching.com. Before heading north I spent a few minutes printing out caches in the area, giving me a nice diversion while I wait for the hockey game to start. I chose a simple cache dedicated to the great scientist Stephen Jay Gould. The cache location is N44• 21.170 W072• 44.109.
After this dinner was the next item on my list, with several decent choices in the area. The motel had the Wandering Moose Cafe, but it seemed a bit pricey for pub food. Not taking anything away from it, I am sure it is quite good, but I knew the town had choices. Crossing the highway route 89 and at the end of the road taking a left. There are several quality places just a half mile down, The Alchemist, a brewery pub, The Reservior, Arvad's are all clustered on the same block. I choose instead to go right at the end of the street and drive almost 2 miles to the Ciderhouse BBQ & Pub. I sat at the barwhere there were more waiters and waitresses than clients, but it was 5:30 so a bit earlyforthe dinner crowd. Several groups did come in while I was there. The staff was friendly and the pair of lesbian couples seemed to knowthem well. I started with a drink and ordered, corn fritters to start, then the brisket dinner with sausage stuffing and cold slaw. Starting with a dlicious piece of cornbread with sweet kernels in it was a pleasant starter. The fritters were tasty doughy goodness in a sweet and spicy hot sauce. You got ahealthy filling portion for your $7. The beef brisket was tender and lean, with an understated but flavorful spicy sauce. The stuffing was sweet but the sausage lacked texture as well as flavor. The meal was very large for the $16 cost. Only the first drink was on the bill and the free refills were needed to was down the food. Even as a nondrinker of alcoholic beverages, I was tempted to sample the Woodchuck Pear Cider, on tap it looked really inviting. Definately pleased with the choice and full tothe max I could head back to the motel for a nice night with a game seven hockey game.

Waterbury VT

I did not even consider that I could be taken up rte3 by the Tom Tom. So imagine my surprise that it was the route it took me.
I can't add pictures here at the Best Western in Waterbury but I will add a few upon return. The drive was about three and a half
hours. I did stop once to use the roadside wifi and get directions directly to the Center Chains discgolf course, where the tournament is tomorrow. I played a round and a few extra wholes and then headed back to the motel to check in a nit before the three o clock check in
time. It wad great to take a shower after the damp discgolf play. My back is a bit sore so I thonk I will investigate the motel a bit and see if there is a hot tub I can soak in tonight. This itouch entry has to be short as the typing is not the easiest thing to do. I also brought a couple geocache sites in case I get bored. Not sure how I will get bored with the Bruins trying to win game 7 tonight.

Gearing up for Vermont!

I have Friday off and hope to travel to beautiful Waterbury Center VT next weekend. I am interested in seeing if the Tom Tom will plan the route out route two or on the MA pike. Not that I need navigation I just always wonder what that tool will do. The weather is looking like clouds with a few showers, Temps near 60 degrees.
